Lighting up the lives of deaf destitute in a State Government Home

We started Project DARE (Development Activities in Rehabilitative Education) in August 1987, upon a request from the Government of West Bengal to educate destitute deaf girls / women residing in the S.M.M. Home at Liluah, Howrah, West Bengal.

We provide functional and academic training, supplemented by creative activities such as embroidery, art, music, dance, batik and gardening. Rehabilitating these hearts into the mainstream remains a dominant goal. We continue finding new ways and means around a rigid government system and the prevailing social circumstances.
